Minors

If you are a minor seeking abortion pills, Pills by Post can help. The laws around parental involvement vary by state — here's what you need to know for the states we serve:

No parental consent or notification required: If you live in California, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Washington State, or Washington D.C., you do not need to tell a parent or ask for their permission to get an abortion. Your care is completely confidential.

Parental notification required (not consent): If you live in Colorado, a parent must be notified in writing at least 48 hours before your abortion. They do not need to give permission — only be notified.

Parental consent required: If you live in Michigan or Virginia, written parental consent is required. In Virginia, a parent must also be notified at least 24 hours before your appointment.

If you live in a state where parental notification or consent is required and it is not safe or possible for you to involve a parent, free legal help is available. Contact the Repro Legal Helpline at 844-868-2812 or visit reprolegalhelpline.org. A free lawyer can help you understand your options — including how to get permission from a judge instead of a parent, so you can get the care you need safely and privately.

No matter where you live, you deserve safe, confidential care. We are here to help.
